White American’s a Minority by 2042…
The U.S. Census Bureau released a report today that announced within one generation, white American’s will be a minority in this country for the first time since the Europeans settled here in the early 1600’s. It appears that once again the U.S. is re-shaping it’s ethnic identity.
The report indicates that the hispanic & asian population in America is growing rapidly while the white population is aging quickly and having fewer children. While this will no doubt have implications for Washington concerning future politics on immigration, etc.; I think this presents some new opportunties and challenges for the local church to consider within urban centers accross America. I.E. – what will church need to look like in light of this emerging context? Something to think about for the days ahead…

I just found your blog, Shea (yay for Facebook)! So I’m sorry I’m a little behind here. Another thing that impacts the statistic is the rising number of interracial marriages and their children. For example, I’m Asian, married to a Caucasian, but on our daughter’s birth certificate, I indicated that she’s Asian.
