Great Read…

 

Here’s a new book that I just picked up, and thus far has been an excellent read.  It’s entitled Why We’re Not Emergent: By Two Guys That Should Be.  It’s written by a pastor (Kevin Deyoung) and a journalist (Ted Kluck).  These are two fairly young guys (early 30’s) who do a great job of showing why the truth of the Gospel MUST be the central focus for the church in terms of penetrating culture.  They do an excellent job of riding the tension between a growing number of churches who have punted truth in an effort to reach culture - and - other churches who have punted the culture in order to hold on to their truth.  They show the balance of taking to the world while holding fast to the truth of the Gospel at all costs. 

Anyway, a great read amidst the ever-growing “watering down of the Gospel” of our day.
