Faith in Decline…

A huge study just came out showing just how much religious affiliation in America has declined over recent years… Highlights from the findings include:

• Over 1/4 of all people abandon the faith of their childhood at some point in their adult years in exchange for another religion or no religion at all
• Hindus claim the highest childhood retention rate at 84%
• Mainline protestant churches are in major decline / non-denominations are growing.  Key denominator: people are church hopping like crazy
• 25% of American adults, ages 18-29, claim no religious affiliation at all (compared to 5% in the 1980’s)
• Confidence in organized religion (especially ones with traditional forms) is dropping fast
• The idea of America being a “protestant nation” is about to change…  The protestant majority is currently at 51% and falling…
